Local Attractions

Busselton has a wide variety of attractions for everyone to enjoy. All the activities listed below are in the local area of Busselton and Dunsborough shire and in the South West corner, including places such as the Margaret River Wine region and the Augusta Whale Watching region.

Beaches

A few minutes from your holiday accommodation there is a very inviting sandy beach, a part of the Geographe Bay, perfect for children to have a swim. This area is ideal for swimming, snorkeling, fishing and kayaking. The famous Busselton Jetty is a must see! Ride the train out to the end or take a walk out to the famous Under Water Observatory! Pack a picnic lunch under the fig trees, overlooking the swimming area. There are number of protected boat ramps, Busselton is a great place to take the boat out into Geographe Bay to go fishing and diving. Dunsborough has a number of secluded bays that are hidden away in the winding coast. Take a day trip out to Meelup beach and enjoy a barbecue in the park right on the beach front.

Wineries and Local Produce

Busselton is surrounded by the Margaret River Wine Region wineries and vineyards. Visit Olio Bello, where they make fresh olive oils and other olive products, the Margaret River Chocolate factory, the Margaret River Cheese factories, Candy Cow and finish up with some of our local wineries such as Vasse Felix, Edwards Vineyard, Fermoy Estate and Mosswood. Cullen Wines offer a great selection of premium Margaret River organic wine, as well as organic food for lunch. Why not book a tour at the reception, we provide a range of different tours for you to enjoy the region.

Whale Watching

Walk out on the Busselton Jetty and you if your are lucky you will see the Whales at play, during the Whale season. As they travel north we often get a friendly visit from a pod of Whales as they past by. They love to show off their beauty and play in the geography Bay on their way past. A very memorable experience for the children and the big kids! There are whale tours available at Augusta, Dunsborough and Busselton. Please ask at the reception for more details.

Maps and information for scenic tours are available at reception. Busselton can supply all of your needs. We are located within walking distance from the centre of town. Busselton has a post office and a local 24hr police station, local hospital, a number of doctors and medical practices and chemists. Busselton has all the large shopping center's including Coles, Local IGA, Woolworths and smaller independent shops. There are news agencies, bakeries, hairdressers,beauticians and gift/novelty shops as well as dress shops.

Surfing

Margaret River is just half an hour away from your holiday destination. From the learner to the more experienced surfer there is a surf break for everyone and every type of board including mal riders, short board riders and body board riders. The surf breaks in the South West have been made famous by pros and surfing videos. The Margaret River classic is on once a year and the Margaret River pro is on once a year. There are lots of local competitions for the spectators or the keen sufer. There are plenty of other excellent breaks in the South West corner.

Caves

The region has lots of popular caves including the Yallingup Ngilgi Cave near Dunsborough. The caves are a great experience and shouldn't be missed. The most popular caves have tours that run daily. With a good pair of comfortable shoes the caves can be enjoyed by just about everyone. Experienced cavers and abseilers will enjoy the many caves and cliffs surrounding the area. Check at reception for a map and shire regulations for self guided tours.

Diving

For a great diving experience the World War II warship HMAS Swan is situated in the Busselton Bay. For more information please ask at reception.

Lunar Circus Summer School

Yallingup Surffilm Festival 2010

Come along and enjoy a fun two days at mad fish winery. The funds raised from the event will benefit Surf Aid, a non-profit organisation dedicated to the alleviation of human suffering through community-based health programs. Many of the programs were conducted in popular international surf spots where poverty-striken communities are suffering.
